The N-terminal anchor sequences of 11[beta]-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases determine their orientation in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Most viral particles are nonenveloped, but a few acquire an envelope structure during passage through the endoplasmic reticulum (8,15). One common feature exhibited by all these cells was an abundance of rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) with dilated cisternae (figure 4). |
