The Pinsk Military Flotilla had 31 launches, seven monitors, a minelayer, four gunboats, an air squadron of 10 planes, an antiaircraft artillery battalion of 18 guns and a marine infantry platoon. Mine rockets emplace antitank mines with variable-time fuzes that cause the mines to self destruct in three to 96 hours (basically the same as the German Engineer minelayers emplace and similar to the US family of scatterable mines). Both shipboard and shore-based aircraft conducted aerial patrols to monitor coastal junks and fishing vessels as potential minelayers, often passing over enemy-controlled territory and taking ground fire as a result. |
