Crews will collect up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds of household toxics per vehicle - items such as antifreeze, car batteries, used motor oil, paint, pesticides, household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs and electronic waste such as TVs and monitors, computers, VCRs, stereos and cell phones at the free drop-off. PET has appeared in bottles for motor oil and other automotive and marine fluids, though it is used more frequently in HIC containers such as for dishwashing liquids. While some companies are attempting to purify collected motor oil and re-blend it for sale as a recycled lubricant the great bulk of used motor oil is recycled into a low-cost, low-grade fuel for cement kilns and utility boilers, or it is used as an ingredient in asphalt pavement. |
