Deputy Chief of Mission Khalaf Abuthuhair UNITED NATIONS, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- Kuwait highlighted the "important and vital" role played by the UN and its Department of Peacekeeping Operations in the maintenance of border markers between the Gulf state and Iraq, in implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 833 of 1993.
UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Alain Le Roy, during a visit to New Delhi told reporters that the Indian government is studying a demand to provide helicopters to Darfur mission.
UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations police adviser Andrew Hughes said Interpol's help is important because rebuilding efforts are often complicated by trans-national crime syndicates keen to exploit the situation.
