George Djorgovski of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and his colleagues began their study by examining a distant quasar called LBOoS 1429-008.
The redesigned Quasar line of universal testing machines is said to have extremely high load resolution at 1/200,000 the maximum load, and the possibility to extend the user field of the load cell to 1/500.
Astronomers are usually excited about finding a couple of quasars together, but in this one shot, they found 18.
