He had received oral therapy with prednisolone (5 mg twice per day), hydroxychloroquine (200 mg twice per day), sulfasalazine (1,000 mg twice per day), and methotrexate (MTX) (15 mg per week) for 4 months. All subjects were examined by the same physician regularly (once a month), and all subjects were taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and sulfasalazine (2 g daily). There are conflicting data on the effects of sulfasalazine on adult male fertility, but decreases in sperm motility are commonly observed with normal sperm counts (Marmor 1995). |
