As a graphic designer, typographer and teacher, Mafundikwa says that the "the letters and symbols we write with are extremely important to a visual communicator like me. He worked as a typographer and printer for 41 years, retiring in 1990. The text's off-kilter font is a superimposition of two opposing styles: the hard-edged geometry characteristic of Theo van Doesburg and a flowing, fanciful script developed by New York typographer Edward Benguiat in the '70s. |
