His first experience with yaks came in 1995, when he was hiking in the Himalayas and a herd of yaks saved his life. As much as ``Himalaya'' is steeped in Tibetan Buddhism and ancient cultures, at its core, it's another in a long line of cattle-drive westerns - only with yaks instead of cows. There is precious little grazing land for the yaks along the route, and sometimes the beasts become so hungry that they begin eating sand. |
