The Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) has recently produced a report for audiences of the Asia-Pacific regions as a contribution to a project worldwide initiated by the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), the global network ofscience academies.
This AASSA report on Food and Nutrition Security and Agriculture (FNSA) focusses on FNS in the Asia/Oceania region, but given the size and importance of the region and the considerable inter-connectedness of matters influencing food production, food consumption, nutrition and human well-being, many of the observations and recommendations made are global in nature.
AASSA currently has a total of 34 member academies and societies representing 30 countries.
The Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) was established in 2012 through the merger of the Association of Academies of Sciences in Asia (AASA) and the Federation of Asian Scientific Academies and Societies (FASAS) to promote solidarity and cooperation among the scientific and technological academies in Asia and Australasia and to play a central role in cooperative efforts for further developing the region through science and technology.
The workshop was organized by Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) in collaboration with Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA).
He appreciated the efforts of PAS and support from Vice President AASSA Dr Namik Kamel Aras to organize this important workshop in Pakistan.
He was addressing here at the Regional Workshop on the challenges in Water Security to meet the Growing Food Requirement jointly organized by Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia(AASSA) and Pakistan Academy of Sciences(PAS).
Workshop was attended by the international and national scientists, members and executives of AASSA and PAS.
Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Engr Baligh ur Rahman will inaugurate the conference, organised by Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) in collaboration with Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asian (AASSA).
