In the larger AFJN context of "putting Africa on the map," I was invited to the Washington Theological Union to give a course entitled "The Relevance of African Christianity to the World Church." (10) It led to my appointment there as director of the program in Mission and Cross-Cultural Studies (later, the Finian Kerwin OFM Chair of Mission and Cross-Cultural Studies).
