To mark the end of the African Monitoring of the Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) project in the south-west Indian Ocean region, the Mauritius Oceanography Institute (MOI), in collaboration with the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) and the European Union, is organising from 27 to 28 May at the Cybertower 1 in Ebene a closing workshop on the Use of AMESD Ocean Products in the Indian Ocean Region to present the achievements of the AMESD project.
He commended the professionalism and expertise of the MOI in handling the AMESD project.
These in turn rely on implementation of fundamental infrastructure (ICT) and capacity building, permitting for example direct satellite communications and data transfer links with all AU countries, with African Regional Economic Communities (REC's) and with AUC headquarters, also through the Africa Monitoring of Environment for Sustainable Development (AMESD) programme.
