The men's quartet of Kunhu Muhammad, Muhammad Anas, Rajiv Arokia and Amoj Jacob clocked 3 minute 2.92 seconds to win the race while the women's team of Nirmala Sheoran, M Povamma, Jisna Mathew and Debashree Mazumdar clocked 3:31.34 to ran away winners.
Local stars Muhammed Anyas (45.77) and Arokia Rajiv (46.14) won the gold and silver respectively while their compatriot Amoj Jacob (46.49) finished fourth.
Incheon Asian Games bronze medalist Arokia Rajiv sailed through in first place in Heat 2 of the same race, just as the third Indian participant in the competition, Amoj Jacob also eased into the next round with a first-place finish in Heat 3.
