Three assays had to be excluded from the AMTM because of a statistically significant bias (phosphate, triglycerides, uric acid), and the pooled manufacturer/laboratory data for one LDL cholesterol assay suggested a 15% bias; however, this needs confirmation (see below).
Laboratory AMTM performance sometimes showed a large difference between laboratories for all estimates.
With regard to using the AMTM instead of REF, our study gave conclusive evidence to support that AMTM is a reasonable and cost-saving alternative, at least for the analytes we examined here.
