Carlos Brousset, the director of ANDEC, said, "ANDEC was created to represent all the coffee exporters to jointly promote our product in foreign countries and to maintain a line of production to guarantee the physical characteristics and overall quality.
ANDEC is beginning to correlate Bolivian coffee statistics and estimates the total Bolivian production for 1994/95 and 1995/96 at 95,000 60-kilo sacks.
Statistics of Andec
, the national association of coffee exporters, put 1989/90 exports at a record of 158,000 bags, well up from 1988/89 exports of 117,000 (60 kg) bags.
A government agency, Cobolca, regulates coffee production in the country through three independent organizations, Andec (Association Nacional de Exportadores de Cafe), producer bodies and roasters.
A laboratory for expert quality control has been built under the auspices of Cobalco and Andec and will be in operation at the beginning of 1990.
