During the community consultation process during the referral of the Phillip Island Draft Management Plan (ANPWS 1989), the following submissions regarding the spelling of the Phillip Island were received:
(1) This map is called 'Coyne's Map' because it is attributed to the work carried out by Peter Coyne, the head officer the ANPWS on Norfolk Island at that time.
