Apapa, which took over the concession at Lagos'
Apapa Container Terminal in 2006, has invested a total of USD350 million to develop infrastructure, acquire sophisticated cargo handling equipment, modernisation of the terminal, IT hardware and software systems, and additional capacity.
The task force was set up as a result of a presidential directive, which ordered the removal of trucks on bridges and roads in
Apapa as well as the restoration of law and order in that part of Lagos.
The attack on the
Apapa was down to Germany's U-boat campaign.

The SS
Apapa had been built by Harland & Wolff in Glasgow in 1914 at 7,832 tonnes for Elder, Dempster & Company, a mail carrying firm based in Liverpool.

Apapa had been sailing in convoy on a voyage from Freetown, West Africa, to Liverpool with 200 passengers and crew plus general cargo.
Of the 292 potential mosquito breeding sites surveyed, 71 (24.3%) were positive for Anopheles larvae, 35% of the positive sites were from
Apapa, 16% from Ikoyi, 21% from Ilupeju and 28% from Yaba.

Apapa, Lagos.
