Si a Sacko, a technical adviser at APCAM said during his visit: "The name of SG 2000 in Mali is associated with the maize Dembanyuma and NERICA rice.
Mutation in the phosphorylation sites of MAP kinase blocks learning-related internalization of apCAM in Aplysia sensory neurons.
Using fluorescently labeled antibodies, Kandel's team found that serotonin treatment reduced the amount of apCAM on the surfaces of sea snail neurites after one hour.
The researchers suggest that the neuron moves toward other neurons by recycling the patch of membrane that once contained the apCAM. "Maybe what's happening is that the cell pulls in the [apCAM-containing] membrane at one point, where it's attached to another neuron, and moves that membrane to the active growth zone where it's forming new synapses," says Kandel.
The panel data used in this study is from a 2000-2001 survey undertaken in Bamako by the Direction Regionale du Plan et de la Statistique (DRPS), Michigan State University (MSU), the Assemblee Permanente des Chambres d'Agriculture du Mali (APCAM), and the Centre d'Analyse et de Formulation de Politiques de Developpement (CAFPD).
