It is stated that on March 28, 2006, the Yunus Brothers had submitted a proposal to the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), in anticipation of issuance of letter of interest (LOI) for award of contract for the establishment of the 215MW Asrit
Kedam Hydropower Project.
They assured KP government of their complete cooperation in Korean company project including 215 mega watts Asrit
Kadam Hydro project and asked that low spot valvi project of WAPDA with generating capacity of 496 mega watts will be handed over to Korean company.
A local company Yunus Brothers, who had received Letter of Intent (LOI) and conducted the feasibility study of the 215 MW Asrit
Kedam Hydropower Project, has approached the court and challenged the decision of the KP government of handing over the project to Korean South East Power Company project in violation of the rule.
ISLAMABAD -- The Peshawar High Court has restrained Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government from handing over 215 MW Asrit
Kedam Hydropower Project to Korean South East Power Company in violation of rules and asked the government and Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization to comment within fortnight.
Some of these projects are: new Bong Hydropower Project(84MW), Patrind Hydropower Project(157 MW), Kotli Hydropower Project (100 MW),Gulpur Hydropower Project (100 MW), Sukki Kinari Hydel Power Project (840 MW), Karot Hydel Power Project (720 MW), Asrit
Kedam Hydel Power Project (215 MW), Madian hydel Power Project ( 157 MW) and Sehara Hydel Power Project ( 130 MW).
Three projects would be completed by the end of 2016 include Kalam Asrit
(197MW) on Swat River, Shogosin (132MW) and Shushgai Zhendoli (144MW) near Chitral District.
Other projects under construction in the private sector are 147 MW Patrind (Mansehra), 215 MW Asrit
Kedam (Swat), 157 MW Madian (Swat) and 548 MW Kaigah (Kohistan).
