This month, under the auspices of ASTEP
, a Carnegie-Mellon University rover named Zoe set out into the Atacama.
Since then, ASTEP has reached out to 2,500 children through four ongoing programs (Florida, South Africa, India, and New York City) and additional community workshops.
In 2007, with the help of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Ubuntu Education Fund, ASTEP took a group of 47 children on a 13-hour trip from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg to see productions of The Lion King and Rent.
Previous work by collaborators in the ASTEP project was assessed when preparing the user needs for ASTEP (McAndrew, Desmulliez, Flockhart, Schnurr, Tomes, Ferreira, Santiago, Ra, Strom, Smith, Gracie, Rorvik, Johnsen, & Mayes, 1998).
The course model in the ASTEP project is task-centric, this means that all the material presented to the user, and all the actions that they take relative to that material, will be associated with learning tasks.
In celebration of ArtCents and all participating artists, ASTEP is presenting the ArtCents Concert Series which spotlights emerging songwriters with performances by Broadway's best, with the score of Lee Summers' Funkentine Rapture being featured on July 16th.
The concert series is produced by Michelle Miller and Susan Vargo, while ASTEP was founded in 2005 by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, a music director and pianist living in New York City.
With the automotive industry's market demand for engineering talent, ASTEP brings German engineers to the United States to help meet this demand.
An example of the program's success is Robert Hoelting, an ASTEP intern who began in September 1999 an internship in the Product Development Group of Grand Rapid, Michigan-based automotive supplier Paulstra CRC.
