Through this grant, NLU and AUSL will further improve student achievement in Chicago by expanding the number of well-qualified and diverse teachers this program can provide to CPS, and by improving the residency program to better prepare teachers for their challenging work in chronically-failing schools.
AUSL works closely with Chicago Public Schools to manage the turnaround of high-poverty, underperforming schools.
AUSL and NLU created the Urban Teacher Residency (UTR) program to prepare teachers for urban classrooms.
The following education experts are available to discuss the AUSL turnaround model:
Donald Feinstein has been executive director of AUSL since 2003.
Jarvis Sanford has been Managing Director of Elementary Schools for AUSL since 2007.
