(132) The Ad Hoc Working Group for Long-Term Cooperative Action (AWGLCA) would now consider, among other things, "policy approaches and positive incentives on issues relating to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries; and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in developing countries." (133) The SBSTA would remain the site of discussions about methodology and technological concerns relating to REDD.
A key outcome from the AWG and AWGLCA negotiations must be to establish appropriate arrangements for all sources of adaptation funding, with the aim of ensuring financial support is available to the most vulnerable.
Although the AWGLCA had been charged with addressing REDD since the Bali Action Plan in 2007, negotiations had remained largely within the SBSTA and had focused on methodological issues.
