AP39 (25-250 nM) induced a concentration-dependent increase in [H.sub.2] S generation and in the fluorescence of the [H.sub.2]S-detecting dye AzMC, and the signal was significantly colocalized with the mitochondria (Figures 1(a) and 1(b)).
(b) Neurons were treated with different concentrations of AP39 for 2 h, and intracellular [H.sub.2]S was detected using the fluorescent probe AzMC. DAPI was used to stain nuclei, and MitoTracker was used to stain mitochondria.
