stated the same with absolute latency III, V, I-III, and I-V.
[16,26] One such study examined the effects of hormones, head size, and oral temperature on BAEP parameters and found that head size affected waves III and V absolute latency but concluded that it is not entirely responsible for latency differences and gender difference is a combination of hormonal and head size differences.
Absolute Latency, Interpeak Latency, and Wave Amplitude in Control Subjects.
Absolute Latency, Interpeak Latency, and Wave Amplitude in Hemispherectomized Patients.
The ABR indices were then recorded; they included the wave I-V interval, the ILD, and the absolute latency of wave V.

Sample size calculation was done using mean [+ or -] standard deviation (SD) for absolute latency of wave V (as it was significantly delayed for both the ears in cases as compared to the controls) in a previous similar study.
Mean BAEP wave V absolute latency increased in the hypothyroids when compared to the controls with P < 0.001 (both ears).
RESULTS: Table 1 shows the absolute latency value and the wave I, III and V inter peak interval, means with their standard deviation (SD) in 120 ears regardless of sex or side.
The study demonstrates statistically significant increase (P < 0.05) in the absolute latency of Wave V and Wave III with nonsignificant variations in Wave I absolute latency (Table 1).
Increase in absolute latency observed in premature infants compared with that in term infants may be related to delay in electrical conduction through the process of myelination of the structures of the auditory pathway to the brainstem that is still under development, suggesting that the degree of myelination and immaturity of nerve fibers of auditory pathways affect the latencies of waves.
