Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance will report next May on the skyrocketing cost of college textbooks.
* In 2001, the
Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance, in its Access Denied report, demonstrated that academically prepared low-income students pursue and attain a postsecondary education at much lower rates than their median- and upper-income peers.
The department is supposed to publish results in June for the next year, but it delayed publication until December, saying it needed the extra time to review figures from the Statistics of Income file data provided by the Internal Revenue Service and a report from the
Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance.
The
Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance held a public hearing in Washington DC on Friday last September 30, 2011.
In the "Higher Education Opportunity Act" of 2008, Congress charged the
Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance with conducting a review and analysis of regulations affecting higher education, to determine the extent to which regulations are overly burdensome and need to be streamlined, improved, or eliminated.
