The Swedish defence and aerospace group Saab said on Monday (31 October) that its subsidiary Saab Bofors Dynamics had received a SEK260m contract to upgrade the Swedish armed forces' AK5 assault rifles.
Sweden insisted on a series of modifications before the resultant CGA5 was put in production with FFV (now Carl Gustaf) as the Ak5, with many components strengthened or reshaped for handling with gloved hands.
