Today he sits on the board of America's Foundation for Chess (AFC), a group that works with superintendents and boards across the country to implement chess programs in their own districts.
"I saw firsthand that the program really does help students to improve critical thinking skills, increase math and reading aptitude, develop social skills, and build serf-esteem," said Nicole DiMartino, a former teacher and director of program development for America's Foundation for Chess, the non-profit that developed the First Move curriculum used in Idaho and elsewhere.
