The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) was established in 1948 by representatives of 40 American companies and has grown into one of the most influential business organizations in Japan.
A recent United States-Japan Trade White Paper (1993) prepared by the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan concluded that while conditions since 1991 have improved, significant barriers to full and open access to the Japanese market still exist.
