The incident was all the more galling because it took place at the annual conference of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) in Denver last July, a gathering where the attendees, by and large, realize the potential of solar energy better than anyone.
Last month, the nation's leading environmental group, the Sierra Club, joined with the American Solar Energy Society, key congressional chairpersons and representatives, and one of the nation's preeminent climate scientists, NASA's James Hansen, to unveil a new report authored by the society that lays out a plan for dramatically reducing the nation's global warming emissions.
