"If you want to provide an incentive, you get 2 1/2 times the jobs in energy efficiency and renewable energy as you would in oil and gas," said Brad Collins, the American Solar Energy Society
's executive director.
And data from the American Solar Energy Society
show that there were about 106,600 jobs in renewable energy industries in 2006.
A survey by the American Solar Energy Society
found that the renewable energy and energy-efficient industries alone were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 minion jobs in 2006, By 2030, that number is expected to reach 40 million.
jobs created in 2006 exceeded 450,000, according to a report released late last year by the American Solar Energy Society
In January 2007, the American Solar Energy Society
(ASES) released the 180 page document, Tackling Climate Change in the U.S.

The incident was all the more galling because it took place at the annual conference of the American Solar Energy Society
(ASES) in Denver last July, a gathering where the attendees, by and large, realize the potential of solar energy better than anyone.
Last month, the nation's leading environmental group, the Sierra Club, joined with the American Solar Energy Society
, key congressional chairpersons and representatives, and one of the nation's preeminent climate scientists, NASA's James Hansen, to unveil a new report authored by the society that lays out a plan for dramatically reducing the nation's global warming emissions.
Solar cells work because "electricity is created when sunlight strikes the cell and electrons are released to form a current of electricity," explains Brad Collins, executive director of the American Solar Energy Society
. There are three types of solar cells--single crystal, polycrystalline, and thin film.
