Annette has served on the Tax Executive Committee of the AICPA and the board of the
American Tax Policy Institute. She is a former chair of the ABA Tax Section's Sales, Exchanges & Basis Committee.
Mann, former ABA Section of Taxation chair and tax partner at Miller & Chevalier, chaired the conference, which was co-sponsored by TEI, the ABA Section of Taxation, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Federal Tax Division,
American Tax Policy Institute, and American College of Tax Counsel.
Mares has served with numerous organizations, including the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council and the
American Tax Policy Institute. He is a former member of the AICPA's Beard of Directors and a former TEC chair.

American Tax Policy Institute (ATPI)-sponsored roundtable discussion this summer on issues surrounding the treatment of employees and independent contractors.
At an award ceremony at IRS headquarters on May 1, the Commissioner recognized the combined efforts of TEI, the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the
American Tax Policy Institute, and the National Association of Enrolled Agents in producing the two-day conference, The New IRS Stands Up: What the Modernized Agency Means for You.
Rossotti outlined the agency's reorganization at The New IRS Stands Up, a conference on IRS modernization presented by the service and cosponsored by the AICPA, the ABA Section of Taxation, the
American Tax Policy Institute, the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the Tax Executives Institute.
The leaders of the ABA, AICPA, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, and the
American Tax Policy Institute all deserve credit for working together (along with a team from TEI) in putting this conference together.
