She is the recipient of the Essentially Ellington Certificate of Merit, the Michael David Samel Spirit of Music Fund Award, Downers Grove Music Club "Rising Star" Award, the Clarence Shoemaker Band Scholarship from Downers Grove South High School, the Kowalski Scholarship from the American Wind Band, and the American Music Foundation Award for Outstanding Band Student.

In addition, he authored two books on bandmaster/composer Henry Fillmore, and edited not only Sousa's autobiography and his 1896 operetta, El Capitan, but also the monumental three-volume Heritage Encyclopedia of Band Music.
She is currently completing her book American Women's Military Bands during World War II as part of The Scarecrow Press new series on American Wind Bands. She has presented her research and teacher-pedagogy workshops internationally in Australia, Austria, Italy, and Sweden.
