At BarCap, Di Iorio will oversee the firm's equities trading business in Asia-Pacific, including cash equities, convertibles, derivatives, arbitrage and program trading.
Bob Diamond - BarCap boss and president of Barclays - said the division saw a tougher May and June, but added that July was a far better month.
BarCap's top-line income was down by almost a third, while it said trading revenues were 15% lower in the second quarter.
"Any bids that go straight to RBS - and there have been several - come to me and are directed to Barcap (Barclays Capital)," he said.
