Young (2004) modified the classical Buried Electric Cable (BEC) solution (Carslaw and Jaeger, 1959) to develop his analytical Borehole Fluid Thermal Mass (BFTM) solution.
Young's resulting model was referred to as the Borehole Fluid Thermal Mass Model (BFTM model) and introduces a grout allocation factor (GAF) in order to improve accuracy of the BFTM model.
The analytical models that have considered the fluid thermal capacity include the CS model (Model 3) used by Gehlin and Hellstrom (2003) and the Borehole Fluid Thermal Mass (BFTM) model (Young, 2004).
