According to the collaboration, Mercedes-Benz Energy and
BJEV, which is a BAIC Group subsidiary, aims to use
BJEV's old electric vehicle batteries for this purpose.
The first production of electric vehicles,
BJEV's ARCFOX models, is expected for launch in late 2020.
These OEMs included BYD and BAIC
BJEV, with whom the Group has more than 12 and four years of business relationships, respectively.
Both firms signed a framework agreement on further strengthening collaboration through investment for New Energy Vehicles in China, which included Daimler's intention to become a shareholder in
BJEV. This closer cooperation with both BAIC and
BJEV is intended to allow Daimler to further deepen its understanding of Chinese consumers' needs, especially in the field of NEV.

The network of strategic partners now includes 12 top automakers including BAIC
BJEV, BYD, Chang'an Automobile Group, Chery Automobile Group, Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle, First Auto Works, Geely Auto, Hawtai Motor, JAC Motors, KIA Motors, Renault (RSNDF)-Nissan (NSANY)-Mitsubishi, and Zotye Auto.
Under the contract, BAIC
BJEV will work with Hanergy to merge Hanergy's thin film solar solutions into the roofs of vehicles, providing auxiliary power and even functioning as the main power source.
