Ironically, Hindustan Photo Films, the company that BIFR and BRPSE
wanted to close, continued to bleed the central exchequer till recently, and is yet to be completely shut down.
BRPSE chairman Nitish Sengupta told journalists on Monday that among the turnaround cases are several spectacular ones like the historic Heavy Engineering Corporation, Ranchi.
These companies were earlier earmarked for closure but were taken up for revival with the setting up of BRPSE in 2004- 05.
On the recommendations of BRPSE
, the Government has approved revival of 44 CPSEs as on 31.
Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, Shri Praful Patel, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, said that BRPSE
has also been directed to ensure that the issue of the enhancement of age of superannuation from 58 to 60 years is adequately addressed while examining/recommending future proposals for revival of sick/loss making CPSEs and that the revival package has specific recommendation in this regard.
