Border Area Development Programme has been allocated Rs 825 crore for the next fiscal as against Rs 771 crore in last fiscal.
The meeting discussed various important issues, such as, internal security, problems of Naxalism, communal harmony, safety on the national highways, use and distribution of coal and other natural resources, allotment of land for CRPF to establish battalion camping sites, matters related to police administration, border area development programme, strengthening of vigilance establishment in the states to deal with corruption, issues relating to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, etc.

The major schemes that have seen an increase in allocation include Modernisation of Police Forces, Border Area Development Programme, Freedom Fighters (pension and other benefits), Border Infrastructure and Management and National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project.
Referring to the Border Area Development Programme (BADP), the home minister informed the MPs that Rs 990 crore has been allocated for BADP during 2012-13 - Rs 90 crore more than last year's allocation.
