Another interesting finding to emerge from Table 3 is that the rise in average age at marriage for West Java Muslims in the decade prior to 1990 was largely the result of a rise in age at marriage in the Botabek region surrounding Jakarta, presumably largely as the result of in-migration of Muslims from areas with a tradition of higher age at marriage.

However, the increasingly tight competition among Jakarta's retailers subsequently forced supermarkets to expand their business by establishing outlets in Botabek (Bogor-Tangerang-Bekasi), an region which serves as the buffer zone for Jakarta.
The area of Bogor-Tangerang-Bekasi, which is popularly called Botabek, borders with Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia.
Under such circumstances, Botabek is seen by retailers as a potentially large market for them.
