The Breast Health Global Initiative (BHGI), cosponsored by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Susan G Komen for the Cure of Breast Cancer, encouraged the development of evidence-based, economically feasible, and culturally sensitive guidelines that can be used in nations with limited health care resources, with the aim of improving breast cancer outcomes (10,31.) The other objectives of the BHGI guidelines are to assist ministers of health, policymakers, administrators, and institutions in working out resource allocation as breast cancer treatment programs are implemented in their resource-constrained regions (3,31).
