A successor accrediting agency, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), was identified to succeed CAHEA. Review committees, allied health professional organizations and medical specialty societies that sponsored specialized accrediting agencies were asked to review the proposal for the formation of CAAHEP and to notify CAHEA of their intent.
With the recent discontinuance of the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation, the JRCERT became the reorganized accrediting body for radiography programs in the United States and adopted interim Essentials and Guidelines based on the 1990 CAHEA Essentials and Guidelines.[13] No substantive changes occurred in the 1994 revised Essentials and Guidelines[15] compared to previous versions regarding identification of radiography positioning competencies.
Respondents to the CAHEA survey are at the front lines of the embattled system.
