The survey for this study consisted of questions for respondents to rate the importance of the CAHME healthcare management competency areas, and then to rate their perception of healthcare management student's preparation in the competency area.
Perception of the importance of each competency area defined by CAHME for students of health management education programs was assessed by a Likert scale on a continuum of 1 to 5: 1= Not Important, 2=Of Little Importance, 3= Moderately Important 4= Important, 5=Very Important.
Cumulative ratings were calculated and sorted to determine relative importance ratings and relative preparation ratings for each CAHME healthcare management competency area.
