program has been launched in six most backward districts of Malakand division in collaboration with European Union since 2014 to improve road infrastructure and municipal services in all urban and rural areas of these districts that yielded positive results.

Entitled as Empowering Communities from the Ground Up through Collective Action, the communication strategy of the CDLD
is stretched across a three-year time period to cover the broad spectrum of media communication and public awareness fields to enlighten, educate and engage target communities at the grassroots level.
Mr Afaq said the extension of the CDLD
programme until fiscal year 2020-21 across six more districts showed the initiative's successful implementation.
He said that 363 village organizations under the supervision of CDLD
had been active in these developmental projects.
But, he said the government recently included three more districts of Nowshera, Haripur and Buner in the CDLD
He said that women of all the respective areas were also engaged in the CDLD
projects as they had been imparted technical and vocational trainings.
The conference was held here to formally announce the extension phase of the CDLD
Programme, which was attended by the delegates and representatives of the provincial government, district administration, donor agencies, civil society and implementing partners.
Local councilors hailed CDLD
programme saying that several rehabilitation and developmental plans were completed by this programme at Chitral which was the most backward and risk zone district.
They said that the CDLD
programme was the KP government's initiative funded by foreign donors with the aim to boost life standard through launching development schemes proposed by people at the village council level.
The meeting discussed the initiatives of CDLD
in Malakand Division, and informed that the total approved projects of CDLD
were 562, out of which, 192 project agreements had already been signed.
