Examples of CETSL Projects To formulate appropriate semester-long student projects, each course instructor developed a relationship with an organization.
Faculty and representatives of the community partner agencies wrote a "one-minute paper" on what they gained from participating in the CETSL projects and provided suggestions for improvement.
A total of 115 students participated in CETSL; of these, 41 students (35 percent) were enrolled in the first core community health promotion course.
The highest agreement was the response to the statement "Service-learning helped me understand my role as resource to community." The lowest positively scored item indicated that only 40.9 percent had sufficient orientation to the CETSL project.
Open-Ended Responses Students offered feedback on the CETSL experience that made it apparent that both community and individual learning had taken place.
Although faculty found that they had to spend a significant amount of time setting up the projects, they also described CETSL as a valuable resource for current and new program development and implementation.
