A CII spokesperson said that the council in its 212th meeting had discussed the matter in detail and had arrived at the conclusion that "legislation against child marriage and setting an age limit will lead to many complications".
While the issue of fixing the minimum age for marriage in the country has been under discussion in the Senate and the National Assembly, the CII on Friday responded to the issue in a hotchpotch manner, referring to its earlier decision taken about seven months ago.

According to a statement issued by the CII spokesman, the apex religious body discussed the matter in detail in its 212th meeting and arrived at the conclusion that 'legislation against child marriage and setting an age limit will lead to many complications'.
The CII chairman went on to say that the meeting strongly condemned an attack on Moulana Taqi Usmani and the murder of college professor in Bahawalpur.
The CII is a constitutional body responsible for giving legal advice to the Government and Parlia-ment on Islamic issues.
