The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSLA
) increased the authority of the CPSC, requiring it to issue a certificate for certain classes of products, certifying that the product complies with all rules and regulations under the Act.
CPSC action on the issue is authorized under Section 104 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSLA) which, according to the Commission, requires that Federal safety standards be promulgated for many different types of durable children's products.
Under Section 104 of the CPSLA, CPSC notes, there is no need to do a cost-benefit analysis nor is there any need to assess the impact of mandatory standards on small businesses.
