All money raised from the event will go directly to the CTBF, which supports industry employees and their families who have fallen on hard times.
As a result, a series of regional premieres of the new James Bond film Die Another Day are to be held to raise both funds and more importantly awareness about the CTBF and the work it does.
The CTBF does not receive government grants or lottery assistance and all income has to be raised through appeals for donations from individuals and companies within the two industries.
Chosen as the prestigious 2005 Royal Film Performance, the premiere is a fundraising event in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, it was announced today jointly by the Walt Disney Studios, Walden Media, the CTBF
and Clarence House.
It will provide the first opportunity to see the film in this region and while it is a premiere screening, complete with local celebrities, raffle and suchlike, the CTBF
committee has decided it will essentially be an informal occasion with the accent very much on the family.
Founded in 1924, the CTBF
is the British Trade Charity for anyone who has worked in any capacity `behind the camera' in the film, cinema or commercial television industries, whether their profession is in administration, production, distribution, exhibition or broadcasting.
