Lu, M.D., M.P.H., from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and colleagues developed and tested a CNN, named CXR-risk, to predict long-term mortality from CXRs. Data were included from the screening radiography arms of the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial (PLCO; development, 41,856 patients; testing, 10,464 patients).
Emergency medicine, anesthesiology, internal medicine, and surgery residents were chosen because they interpret CXRs in their daily practice, prior to surgery or in the intensive care unit.
In a retrospective study of more than 1300 patients with stage I seminoma, no recurrences were identified by CXR. (16) In our cohort of patients on surveillance, only two relapses (2%) were to supradiaphragmatic sites, and both were associated with either para-aortic or inguinal nodal metastases.
Out of 1408 CXRs obtained, at least one IF was reported in 197 radiographs, more than one was reported in 13 radiographs in a total of 224 (15.91 %) IFs.
Of the 63 enrolled patients, 54 (85.7%) had a CXR. Of these 54 CXRs, 42 (77.8%) revealed positive findings.
* Our patient received subsequent serial CXRs that showed improvement in pneumomediastinum.
Repeat CXRs demonstrated resolution of acute lung findings.
However, it is not always feasible to gather sputum specimens from all participants in a prevalence survey therefore methods have been developed that include screening for symptoms and chest radiography (CXR).
We set out to compare detection of tuberculous lymphadenopathy on lateral CXRs with sagittal CT reconstructions and determine which anatomical group of lymph nodes contributes to locations on lateral CXR by using multiplanar cross-referencing.
In patients with pathologically proven CMV pneumonia, CXRs usually show bilateral, reticular, interstitial disease that classically begins in the periphery of the lower lobes and spreads centrally and superiorly, as seen in 3 of our patients.
