Ross will represent the North-east against students from eight different regions in the competition, organised by CYQ
and British Colleges Sport.

Fitness Trainer Competition has been designed to reflect the knowledge and skills demanded by the active leisure sector.
Ross Pickersgill, 18, took part in the North-east regional heat of the Level 3 CYQ
Fitness Trainer Competition, in which his friend and fellow Redcar and Cleveland College student Luke Danks also took part.

At present you can join REPs as a level 3 Pilates instructor with one of the following qualifications: CYQ
Level 3 Certificate in Teaching Mat Pilates; OCR Level 3 Certificate in Pilates; Body Control Pilates teaching qualifications.
Certificate in Fitness Instructing aims to give new skills to sports students, in this case so the Falcons players have the correct coaching qualifications to stay in rugby once their playing careers are over.
The colleges offer a number of BTEC, NVQ and CYQ
qualifications in sport and exercise, as well as a Foundation degree in Sport & Exercise Sciences that give all students the knowledge and skills required to pursue careers in the sporting industry.
