The central bank of Kuwait has opposed a proposal to tax expat remittances.
As part of the Central Bank of Kuwait's (CBK) continued efforts to update its guidelines in line with global regulatory standards and to advance its supervisory tools, the CBK Board of Directors approved at its meeting held on 25 October 2015 the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) in its final form for local conventional and Islamic banks, including branches of foreign banks operating in Kuwait.
In the first five years, the fixed rate bonds pay investors a coupon of 5.65% per year, while the floating rate bond pays investors a coupon of 3.90% over the Central Bank of Kuwait discount rate, capped at 6.65% annually.
A total of $13.8 billion was raised by the central banks of Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman with the Central Bank of Kuwait securing the highest amount at $6.5 billion, representing 47.2 per cent of the total.
