He and his colleagues concluded that considering the expanded use of ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and lipid-lowering drugs, it was "surprising" that only 28% of all patients enrolled in the Correction of Hemoglobin and Outcomes in Renal Insufficiency (CHOIR) trial were on platelet aggregation inhibitors such as aspirin.
The warning was issued, in part, in response to the publication of data from the Correction of Hemoglobin and Outcomes in Renal Insufficiency (CHOIR) study (Singh et al., 2006).
