In this study, we measured the crown-heel length and head circumference of term newborns for creating gender specific centile charts for newborns born at Government Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala.
The Crown-Heel Length (CHL) and Head Circumference (HC) were measured within 48 hours after birth.
We sought to determine whether anthropometric parameters, in particular, head circumference (HC) and crown-heel length (CHL), can be measured in preterm neonates and used as a proxy measure for GA.
Caption: Figure 3: Scatterplot showing association between neonatal crown-heel length and gestational age on the third postnatal day.
His anthropometric measurements were birth weight - 2.0 kg crown-heel length 40 cm head / chest circumference - 32/29 cm.
We investigated whether infants' length of gestation, birth weight, and crown-heel length were associated with maternal serum levels of 11 different organochlorine pesticides: p,p'-dichlorodiphenyhrichloroethane (p,p'-DDT), p,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (p,p'-DDE), o,p'-dichlorodiphenyhrichloroethane (o,p'-DDT), hexachlorobenzene (HCB), [beta]-hexachlorocyclohexane ([beta]-HCCH), [gamma]-hexachlorocyclohexane ([gamma]-HCCH), dieldrin, heptachlor epoxide, oxychlordane, trans-nonachlor, and mirex.
We obtained infant birth weight and crown-heel length from hospital delivery logs and medical records.
The fetus weighed 96 g and had a crown-rump length of 13.4 cm, a crown-heel length of 19.4 cm, and a foot length of 2.0 cm.
The fetus weighed 58 g and had a crown-rump length of 8.7 cm, a crown-heel length of 11.9 cm, and a foot length of 1.2 cm.
Based on the results of the above study, our research team designed and completed another study (Johnson et al., 1998) to describe and compare the intra- and interexaminer reliability of four different length measurement techniques: crown-heel, supine, paper barrier, and Neo-infantometer[TM].
The anthropometric parameters studied were birth weight, crown-heel length, OFC and PI.
