Dubai: Dubai residents will now have the convenience of consulting experts and specialist clinics under Dubai Health Care City (DHCC) in 22 free zones across the length and breadth of the emirate with a new agreement signed between the health authorities and the free zone authorities, said a senior DHCC official.

Cosmetic and plastic surgery has become a growing trend in the UAE, and in 2014 DHCC's American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital (AACSH) served 10,000 new patients -- of which 28 per cent were medical tourists, and 72 per cent were UAE residents.
DHCC's first operating review, updating the market on its performance through the first half of the year, found that 15 per cent of the patients were medical tourists with the majority represented by Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab World, Eastern and Western Europe and Asia.
These new guidelines are part of a series of initiatives aimed at expanding the talent pool of healthcare professionals in the DHCC free zone, driving Emiratisation in the health sector, and building capacity in critical areas, such as nursing.
In partnership with the UAE Ministry of Education, DHCC organised tours to paediatric and general wards at Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital-Dubai, Emirates Specialty Hospital, and Mediclinic City Hospital.
The DHCC free zone has revised several fees, benefitting clinical, non-clinical, and education and research partners.
DHCC's telehealth application (telehealth.dhcc.ae) was rolled out in partnership with GetBEE (www.GetBee.com), a technology start-up specialising in business-to-business solution, facilitating live medical consultations and remote patient monitoring, RPM, as well as connecting patients through tools such as video conferencing.
